ABOUT ME

My obsession for jewellery started in my teens. I used to save up to buy a new ring as often as I could and not much has changed, except now I can make my own.

My making journey began with beaded necklaces and earrings for family and friends. Then, while living in London, I took silver smithing classes at the City Lit in Covent Garden. I was hooked. Being able to pierce, form and smelt metal into my own design will never lose its fascination for me and I find the making process a real comfort.

My work is inspired by my travels and surroundings and I am particularly interested in capturing the emotion of a place or moment so that the jewellery becomes a forever reminder. I love the uniqueness of handmade pieces. The slightest irregularity, the grainy detail when sand casting or the faint hammer mark which tells the maker's story with the piece.

How I make...
Sometimes I will just sit down and start making and see where it takes me, but often the process is a lot slower and iterative. I will usually make a quick sketch of my initial idea and then return to it again and again, until it becomes something I want to try to make. I often make prototypes, evolving the piece until I am happy with the final version. I love the experimentation of making and learning as I go.
I sandcast a lot of my pieces which means I only create one piece at a time and so my collections are small, often with several unique pieces. I am experimenting with a variety of new stone setting techniques and hope to incorporate these into my designs very soon.

Jewellery has the ability to transcend us, to take us to that moment, that person or place and with each piece you tell your own story.
